“Electric Eden 2.0: Next Chapter of relationship”; is an one-day event that explores the evolving relationship between humans and the natural world.
“Electric Eden 2.0:” suggests that a version 1.0 already exists but requires an update. The event aims to revisit the core of our relationship with the natural world in the western context, examining how technology, academic research, and science have fundamentally altered it.
Philosopher, anthropologist, and sociologist Bruno Latour argues that the traditional distinctions between nature and society are not very meaningful in our world today.
Instead, Latour proposes a political ecology that recognises the interconnectedness of humans, machines, and the environment and calls for a more democratic and participatory approach to environmental decision-making.
How do we navigate our role in this complex web of life? How has our narrative and dynamics impacted the natural world? Who do we choose as a narrator and why?
Each position in the event utilizes low-level technology and academic research to approach and collaborate with living beings and mythical entities, making them the protagonists of new narratives. The video installation, the participatory performance, and the live concert collectively seek to provide visitors with fresh insights into the interconnectedness between the anthropocene and the natural world.
The non-profit project space Changing Room in Berlin specialises in performance and sound work and methodically engages with an interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary and transcultural way of working.
The initiated symposia and talks thrive on audience co-creation and an atmosphere of shared exploration. This is initiated in order to become part of the process, the thinking and the acting in the interaction.
The Changing Room events have been taking place regularly since autumn 2018 in the middle of an urban and multicultural district between Müllerstraße and Seestrasse in the rooms of a former Berlin horse stable in the district of Wedding.
