Screening, Q&A
Xanadu
Altenbraker Strasse 18, 12053 Berlin-Neukölln
Our first round of participation in the Project Space Festival 2022 was about representing the differing approaches Berlin-based project spaces take to presenting and discursively contextualizing artists' moving image work. For our second festival-within-a-festival, we've invited a group of artists to act as programmers. We're interested in seeing the role of programming within an artists' practice - as research, context building, and creative practice in itself.
Xanadu is located in the front half of Horse & Pony's former showroom near Körnerpark in Neukölln (Horse & Pony will continue its programme in the basement of the current space). Xanadu is run by Carrick Bell, who is one half of the Horse & Pony team. Xanadu is intended as a space dedicated to the ongoing presentation of moving image work by artists*. The programme has two main focuses: On the one hand, external programme makers and artists are invited to present programmed screenings on specific themes, formats, artistic movements, etc. On the other hand, monographic screenings of individual artists are presented, accompanied by programmed screenings that contextualize the practice of the respective artists.
